Situated at a distance of 95 Km from Udaipur , Ranakpur temple is one of the five major pilgrimages of Jains. It is located in the Ranakpur village near Sardi town in Pali district of Rajasthan. The temple is said to have been built by Seth Dharma Sah with the help of Rana Kumbha who ruled the Mewar in 15th century. The temple complex is located in an isolated valley on the Western side of Aravali Range and is renowned for their superb architecture. Spreading across 48000 sq. feet the temple is supported by 1400 exquisitely carved pillars that support the temple.
In the complex there are several other temples that are worth mentioning that include Chaumukha temple, Parsavanath temple, Amba Mata Temple and Surya Temple. Among them Chaumukha temple is most important dedicated to Lord Adinath who is the first Tirthankara of Jains. The temple is a masterpiece of architecture and boasts four additional shrines. It has 24 pillared halls with 80 domes that are supported by 400 columns. Above all the at the height of 45 ft are the engraved nymphs playing the flute in various dance postures. The temple Parsavanath is another major attraction built in 15th century is renowned for its engraved windows beautify with Jain figures. Two other temples dedicated to Neminath and surya Narayan are also the major attractions for visitors. The temples of Ranakpur as nominated among the top 77 wonders in the world.
